How to Define the Pressure in the Process Parameters of the Pressure Vessel?

In the specifications or standards of various pressure vessels, the concepts of working pressure, maximum pressure and design pressure often appear, and their definitions are now described as follows:

(1) Working pressure.
Working pressure is also referred to as operating pressure, which refers to the pressure of the top of the container during normal process operation (i.e. excluding the hydrostatic pressure).

(2) Maximum working pressure.
Refers to the maximum pressure that the top of the vessel may generate during the process operation (ie excluding hydrostatic pressure). When the pressure exceeds this value, the safety device on the container will react. The maximum working pressure of the container should not exceed the design pressure. For this reason, a safety relief device is often installed on the container.

(3) Design pressure.
Refers to the pressure used to determine the vessel's calculated wall thickness and its component dimensions at the corresponding design temperature. The design pressure is determined by the design unit of the vessel according to the design conditions and relevant specifications.
